How it started
Kell started in 1997 as a spin-off of a working group already active in the field of electronic clinical data management from 1990. Kell was one of the first Italian companies to develop telemedicine in health care and innovation since its foundation.

It belongs to the category of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), is a founding member of ASAS, Association for services, applications and ICT technologies for Space, part of Confindustria and is certified ISO 9001: 2008 and ISO 13485.
The working group consists of physicists, engineers, electronic and oceanographers who are part of a young and dynamic scientific group engaged in development activities.
Kell uses internal resources and the collaboration with prestigious research institutes (University of Rome “La Sapienza”, University of Cagliari, University of Perugia, University of Naples “Parhenope” and CNR National Research Council, CNIT, University Tor Vergata, Biomedical Campus, University of Pisa, Ferrara Research Consortium).
Market leadership
Kell promotes the exploitation of research and its dissemination in the industry and the market, leveraging the expertise of its team to engineer advanced prototypes and translate them into innovative services and products in the eHealth and space markets.
Over the years, Kell has acquired a leadership position in the development of telemedicine systems; enhancing technological innovations in the ICT field that can be used in the health sector to improve the efficiency and increase the quality of health processes, in all the different contexts of their “value chain” such as prevention, emergency care, maintenance of own well-being – wellness, family support, clinical and epidemiological studies. Along with some of the major Italian companies, it has developed the largest telemedicine programs, some of them based on satellite communications for mobile telemedicine.
In the course of these initiatives it has developed a set of software modules that allow the integration of the different worlds of e-health by encouraging the movement of data in electronic format, and has worked with various regions and some of the public and private health facilities on the Italian territory.
